In July of 2010 the Acrosstown Repertory Theatre, located at 619 S. Main Street, Gainesville, FL, was chosen to compete in the Pepsi Refresh Project. This yearlong project, funded by the Pepsi Corporation, strives to help people, businesses, and non-profits, fund projects that will spark positive change in their communities. Each month, 1000 projects make the cut to compete. The public determines the winners by logging on, registering, and voting for their favorite projects.

The Theatre stresses the most important thing is for people to take a few seconds to vote every day. In order to vote go to http://refresheverything.com/, register, and search for Acrosstown Repertory Theatre. The Acrosstown's goal is to obtain at least 500 votes per day. Voting is free, quick, and easy.

If successful, the theatre will be awarded up to $50,000 to upgrade electrical wiring, signage, and seating areas of the theatre. Vice Chair of the Acrosstown's Board of Directors Paul Gabbard says, "This is an opportunity for people to come together and support the Gainesville arts community without having to spend a lot of money or time. It takes only a few minutes each day."

The theatre is planning a kickoff event at the beginning of the month, and other promotional events throughout the month of July. For more information about this project, please contact Cindy Lasley at 262-8971 or Norma Berger at 642-4782.
