The ART is proud to announce our first after-school theatre program designed for kids! ARTiS stands for Acrosstown Repertory Theatre in Schools, and represents the beginning of the ART’s expansion to include family-friendly and child-oriented education opportunities as part of its community offerings.
The ARTiS mission is to provide theatre education to interested 6th-12th graders in Alachua County using an interactive, low-impact, after-school model. The program teaches basic artistic and technical theatre knowledge, in an environment that also fosters cooperation, leadership, communication, self-awareness, team-building, and goal-setting. No prior theatre experience is necessary.
- In our first tier program, students will learn the basics of acting, dance, stage makeup, and stagecraft.
- In our second tier program, students will learn script analysis and writing, advanced acting, puppetry, costume design, and choreography.
Students will have the opportunity to perform their scenes/dances or demonstrate their work at the ARTiS Graduation Ceremony at the Acrosstown Repertory Theatre. This event will be open to all friends and family to attend and enjoy! Refreshments will be served, and graduates will receive a Certificate of Participation and Achievement.
If you have any questions, please read our FAQ.
Registration details will be posted as soon as available.
ARTiS is an outreach education program with an intentionally low tuition rate, and relies on volunteerism, grants, donations, and sponsorships to fund its scholarships and operational costs. Scholarships are made available to students based on financial need and availability of funds. Please contact us at artis@acrosstown.org to make a donation, learn more about volunteering, or request a copy of our Per Term Cost Assessment and Short Term Goals outline.
