How do I register my child for classes?

You can fill out the registration form at www.acrosstown.org/artis. We will also offer online registration featuring the ability to pay via PayPal in the near future.

How do I pay the tuition?

50% of the tuition is due at the time of registration, in the form of a check or money order made out the Acrosstown Repertory Theatre, with “ARTiS tuition — Child’s Name” in the memo blank, and mailed to the theatre at P.O. Box 12254, Gainesville, FL 32604. You may also pay at the box office, where we will also accept cash.

If my child quits before the end of the session, do I get my tuition money back?

No. Refunds are only available for students who withdraw before the registration deadline.

Can I make payments?

If financial hardship exists, we encourage you to apply for a scholarship. If no scholarships are available, the Acrosstown may accept a payment plan that involves only 25% of the fee at the time of registration and 50% by Sept. 1.

What holidays do you take off?

We do our best to schedule our classes so that there will be minimal interruption of studies. In the event that this is unavoidable, however, ARTiS follows the Alachua County School Board calendar of holidays, and the program starts after Labor Day.

Will my child be in a performance?

Yes, students in the acting and dance courses may perform at the graduation ceremony, where students perform the scenes and dances they have worked on during the term, or show their final design projects. Family and friends and their personal invitees are welcome at this event. We will also have press in attendance.

Can I observe or come to class with my child?

We do not encourage parents or visitors in class except on the last class of each session, at the students’ graduation ceremony and scene performance. Outside observers tend to cloud the mission of each class, distracting students from their focus on scene work, character development, and team-building. Special arrangements might be possible in extenuating circumstances at the discretion of the instructor.

Yes, your child may register for more than one workshop. Our schedule allows students to attend all meetings of all workshops they are registered for. Tuition rates apply to each workshop the student is enrolled in.

How do you communicate with the parents?

We communicate almost exclusively through email. Emergency contact information is kept on file as part of the registration form in the event we need to contact a parent immediately for any reason.

Are there scholarships available?

Yes. Scholarships are funded by grants, sponsorships, and community donations, and are available on a greatest-need basis. All letters of need must be turned in by August 25 in order to determine eligibility, and will be awarded based on the availability of funds.

I’d like to make a donation to the ARTiS Program; how do I do it?

Thank you for your support! Please mail your tax-deductible donation in the form of a check or money order made out to Acrosstown Repertory Theatre and mail it to PO Box 12254, Gainesville, FL 32604. IMPORTANT: Please be sure to put “ARTiS donation” in the memo so that our Treasurer will know to route your donation to our program budget. You will receive a receipt for your records in 2-4 weeks. For more information about donations, contact us.

Corporate sponsors may be interested in purchasing very affordable ad-space in our programs from the Acrosstown as another way of supporting the theatre and its projects. Contact us at info[at]acrosstown.org att: Carolyne Salt for more information.

Will you be offering any other classes?

ARTiS will run again in Spring 2014, when we will have a slightly different schedule of courses.
